The Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music and Sound is an interdisciplinary program focused on composition and music technology research. You will work in labs for electroacoustic composition, and produce original compositions that are performed by professional musicians. After school, you could go on to work as a composer, performer or teacher in all musical genres.

**SFU General requirements**

3. High school graduation or equivalent
4. Have a minimum of five approved academic Grade 12 courses, including English Studies 12 or equivalent
5. Have a minimum grade of 70% or higher in Language Arts 11, English 12, or equivalent

**Required Courses**
1. Grade 11 - No specific Grade 11 course requirements

2. Grade 12 (at least 5 approved academic courses)
Equivalent AP or IB courses may be used in place of the following courses.

3. English - One of:
-English Studies 12
-English First Peoples 12

5. Supplemental Application: Applicants (excluding those applying to Art, Performance & Cinema Studies and Performance Production & Design) may be required to submit a supplemental application (audition, interview, or portfolio). Academic Admission Requirement

1. All equivalent courses can be found under requirements on the institution's program website

2. Admission is based on an evaluation of all approved Grade 11 and 12 courses. Equivalent AP or IB courses may be used in place of certain courses - see institution's website for details. 

3. Students must apply to SFU first, then apply to the School of Contemporary Arts (SCA) using the SCA online application form.

- Post-secondary/transfer applicants: October to February
- January intake: June to September
- May intake: October to January
