The Associate of Science Degree provides you with an educational experience that prepares students for life as an educated person, and lays a solid foundation for further study.
This associate degree curriculum consists of two years of university-level study in a variety of academic areas. You are required to complete a broad range of course offerings balanced with in-depth study in specific disciplines. Since many students will continue their studies, the requirements are sufficiently flexible to enable students to complete the required prerequisites for upper-level course work in their intended major. You can specialize in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, or Oenology and Viticulture.

1. One of:
   * High school graduation or equivalent
   * Minimum 19 years of age and out of high school for at least one year as of the first day of classes
2. English 12 (60%) or equivalent [alternatives](https://okanagan.kuali.co/catalog/student#/content/623a5d42ea78fb3a4ffde24b)
3. Math - one of:
   * Pre-Calculus 12 (50%)
   * Principles of Math 12 (50%)
   * ABE MATH 012 (50%)
   * Calculus Readiness Test (64%)
 

Academic Admission Requirement

1. If you do not meet the English entrance requirements, it is still possible to be admitted to the first year of the Associate of Science program subject to the following conditions:

    - Registration is restricted to courses for which you satisfy the prerequisites. This means that registration in first-year English courses is not possible until you meet English course prerequisites.
    - Completion of the English entrance requirements within the first year of studies.

2. Similarly, if you don't meet the Math requirements, it's still possible to be admitted to the first year of the Associate of Science program, subject to the following conditions:

    - Registration is restricted to courses where the prerequisite has been met. This means that registration in CHEM 111, COSC 111, MATH 112, and PHYS 111 is not possible until the Math entrance requirement is met.
    - Registration in MATH 120 (Pre-Calculus) is strongly advised. Successful completion of this course meets the Math entrance requirement.
    - Math entrance requirement, as stated above, must be met within your first year of studies.

3. Secondary School Calculus: 

    - Students enrolling for the first time at Okanagan College who have completed or are registered in a secondary-school calculus course are eligible to write the UBC-SFU-UVic-UNBC Calculus Examination.
    - Students who pass this examination with a grade of 50% or better will be given the option of receiving credit for MATH 112 with a grade equal to the grade obtained on the examination or taking MATH 112 for credit. 
    - There is an $88 non-refundable fee for the Calculus Examination. 
    - Students who opt to take MATH 112 for credit cannot, at a later date, request their grade on the Calculus Examination be used in place of the grade they received in MATH 112, even if the student withdraws.
