To practice as a pharmacist in B.C. you must register with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia. Eligibility is achieved by graduating from an accredited program and successfully completing the Pharmacy Board of Canada Qualifying Examinations.

Pharmacists

This instructional program class comprises any program that prepares individuals to work with patients in hospice and palliative care and focuses on the physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs of patients and families affected by advanced illness. These programs include courses in aging, thanatology, pharmacology, complementary and integrative therapies, pathophysiology, and ethics.

Hospice and palliative care

This instructional program class comprises any program that focuses on the basic sciences that underlie drugs and drug therapy and that prepares individuals for further study and/or careers in pharmaceutical science and research, pharmaceutical administration and sales, biotechnology, drug manufacturing, regulatory affairs, and related fields. These programs include courses in mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, statistics, pharmaceutics, pharmacology and toxicology, dosage formulation, manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulations.

Pharmaceutical sciences

Pharmacy Micro-credentials

Community pharmacists and hospital pharmacists compound and dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals and provide consultative services to both clients and health care providers. They are employed in retail pharmacies and health center pharmacies, or they may be self-employed. Industrial pharmacists participate in the research, development, promotion and manufacture of pharmaceutical products. They are employed in pharmaceutical companies and government departments and agencies.

Pharmacy First Professional Degrees

The Canadian Pharmacy Practice Program (CP3) is a comprehensive bridging program designed for International Pharmacy Graduates (IPGs) seeking licensure in Canada, and Canadian-trained pharmacists who are looking to re-enter practice or update core skills in order to practice pharmacy in Canada. 

Canadian Pharmacy Practice Program - UBCV

The Palliative Care Pharmacy Micro-certificate explores the principles of palliative care and equips pharmacists to contribute unique expertise to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. You will acquire the specialized knowledge to support palliative care patients, family, health and community care nurses, and general practitioners. Topics covered include: the pharmacist’s role in a palliative care team; principles of pain management; use of opioids in palliative care; symptom management; deprescribing; drug-related adverse effects; and cancer-associated thrombosis.
