This instructional program class comprises any program that focuses on the systematic study of map-making and the application of mathematical, computer, and other techniques to the analysis of large amounts of geographic data and the science of mapping geographic information. These programs include courses in cartographic theory and map projections, computer-assisted cartography, geographic information systems, map design and layout, photogrammetry, air photo interpretation, remote sensing, spatial analysis, geodesy, cartographic editing, and applications to specific industrial, commercial, research, and governmental mapping problems.

To practice professional forestry in B.C., you must be registered with Forest Professionals B.C. (FPBC). Eligibility is most commonly achieved by completing a degree from a nationally accredited program.

Employment as a registered professional forester may additionally require relevant work experience.

To work as a conservation and fishery officer that will set and detonate explosives in B.C., you must have blaster certification issued by WorkSafeBC.

To work as a conservation and fishery officer in B.C., you need the correct pesticide certification for the type of work you will be performing. Eligibility is achieved by passing the requisite exam through Service B.C.

To work as an urban and land use planner in B.C., you may choose to earn the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certification. Eligibility is achieved through signing up with the Canada Green Building Council.

Eligibility is achieved through completion of a degree from an accredited planning school, 2 years of practical work experience, 1 year of professional mentorship, and successful completion of a professional examination and ethics course.

To work as a land surveyor in B.C., you must register with the Association of British Columbia Land Surveyors (ABCLS). Eligibility is achieved through completion of an accredited bachelor's degree in geomatics, 24 months of articling under an experienced BCLS, and completion of ABCLS's professional exam and assessment interview.
