The Berry Production Essentials Certificate is designed for those seeking to enter the berry industry and wishing to gain both knowledge and certification necessary to advance their career on the farm or for those seeking professional development opportunities.. You'll learn about horticulture skills and techniques, pest management, soil and soil fertility, and the science and practice of fruit production.

1. High school graduation or equivalent

Note: one of Life Sciences 11, Biology 11, or BIO 083 is strongly recommended. 

Academic Admission Requirement

1. The Agriculture Technology department will also consider applicants if you can demonstrate a reasonable chance for success through a portfolio and/or interview.
 
2. If you have allergies to dust, pollen or animal dander, you should be cautious of entering the program.
 
3. If you are a mature student without recent academic preparation, it is advised that you consult with the agriculture department about refresher courses in math, biology, etc. well before the program start date. UFV offers appropriate upgrading/qualifying courses. 
 
4. Applications are accepted in odd-numbered years only (for example: January 2023 and September 2023 program start/intake dates).
