Academic/Non-Academic

A) VCC's Administrative Assistant Certificate (or an equivalent program in the English language) and the VCC Online Learner Success course

OR

B) one year of administrative assistant experience, verified by an employer with:

  • Grade 12 graduation, or equivalent;
  • English 12 or equivalent
  • completion of the VCC Online Learner Success
  • a certified keyboarding speed of at least 50 gross words per minute (GWPM) for five minutes, with a maximum of five errors;
  • certified completion or experience using word processing software (MS Word) as verified by an employer.

Admission Advice

1. If English is not your first language and you are presenting foreign documents equivalent to Grade 12 you will need to complete a VCC English Language Assessment. (This requirement is waived if English 098/099 has been completed.)

2. It's recommended that you:

  • be competent in business arithmetic;
  • be able to accept responsibility and plan and reason logically;
  • be able to follow instructions and work under pressure;
  • possess good organizational skills;
  • be adaptable to change;
  • have strong computer skills;
  • be able to work co-operatively with others.

English Language Requirement - Applicants must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for their desired program.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program before your name is added to a waitlist or registered in a program.

BC Transfer Student

If you have prior post-secondary education that you want to transfer to VCC you must make a formal request through the Registrar's Office by completing an Approval for Transfer Credit form and attaching all required documents. For more information call 604.443.8411.

Mature Student
