Applications should be submitted as early as possible. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Academic (minimum grade in bracket)

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. VCC English Language Proficiency Requirement

One of:

3. Biology 12 (C+) (within the past five years) or equivalent

4. A Medical Terminology course (70%)

Non-Academic

  • at least 50 hours of paid or volunteer experience working with people with disabilities as verified by a supervisor, employer or educational institute
  • updated immunizations are strongly recommended

Admission Advice

1. On acceptance you must:

  • submit proof of a Current CPR - Health Care Provider Level
  • submit a successful Criminal Record Check. It must be received by the Registrar's Office before the first day of classes. Conviction for relevant offenses may prevent entry to the program. Applicants are responsible for any costs associated with the check;
  • provide proof of a negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.

2. It's recommended that you:

  • be able to communicate effectively with people of all ages;
  • have good health and physical stamina;
  • have patience, empathy and a genuine interest in promoting the independence of others;
  • have good observational and organizational skills;
  • be able to follow directions and work as part of a team;
  • have basic computer and word processing skills.

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

English Language Requirement - Applicants must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for their desired program.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program before your name is added to a waitlist or registered in a program.

BC Transfer Student

If you have prior post-secondary education that you want to transfer to VCC you must make a formal request through the Registrar's Office by completing an Approval for Transfer Credit form and attaching all required documents. For more information call 604.443.8411.

Mature Student

You must be at least 18 years old (unless you have graduated from Secondary School) to meet the general admission requirement for VCC. In addition, specific program admission requirements must also be met.
