COVID-19: UPDATE

Public post-secondary institutions in BC are prepared to welcome new and current students for classes in Fall 2020 through a variety of learning methods while continuing to adhere to public health guidelines.

In addition to their current services for students, institutions are also developing supports to ensure a smooth and successful transition into the new learning methods for their programs.

Our Helpdesk will remain available to answer any questions or concerns regarding applications.

Applications should be submitted as early as possible. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic

1. Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test (Listening 6, Speaking 6, Reading 6 and Writing 5) completed within the past six (6) months. 

Non-Academic

  • Basic First Aid (including CPR Level C or Health Care Provider CPR) 
  • BC Food Safe Certificate Level 1 (an eight-hour course)

Admission Advice

1. Updated immunizations are strongly recommended.

2. On acceptance you must:

  • submit a successful Criminal Record Search (to protect residents in facilities and those served by community agencies). It must be received by the Registrar's Office before the first day of classes. Conviction for relevant offenses may prevent entry to the program. Applicants are responsible for any costs associated with the check.
  • provide proof of a negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
  • provide a completed immunization history
  • be properly fitted for a respiratory mask.

3. It's recommended that you have no sensitivity or allergy to latex;

Summary

All applicants are required to demonstrate the appropriate level of English language proficiency to function successfully in an English-speaking classroom.

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

English Language Requirement - Applicants must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for their desired program.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program before your name is added to a waitlist or registered in a program.

Out-of-Province

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program before your name is added to a waitlist or registered in a program.

BC Transfer Student

Students transfering between post-secondary institutions in B.C. may refer to the BC Transfer Guide to find program transfer credits or BC Articulation Handbook for entrance requirement equivalencies.

If you have prior post-secondary education that you want to transfer to VCC, you must make a formal request through the Registrar's Office by completing an Approval for Transfer Credit form and attaching all required documents. For more information call 604.871.7000.

Out-of-Province Transfer Student

Mature Student

You must be at least 18 years old (unless you have graduated from Secondary School) to meet the general admission requirement for VCC. In addition, specific program admission requirements must also be met.
