Application Deadline Advice

Early applications are accepted up to one year in advance of the intended start date. The application deadline for students is March 1 for September and May entry and November 1 for the January intake. Admission deadlines are subject to change and are often extended.

English Language Requirements

Summary
If English is not your first language, you must meet one of the following (minimum score):

  • Completed five consecutive years of education in English immediately before admission
  • A 70% grade in English 12 or equivalent in the BC secondary system
  • A 75% (B) grade in a university transferable English course
  • A 2.00 (C ) grade in the UNBC English Language Studies 50 Component 1 and 2.
  • An internet based TOEFL score of 88 with a 20 in the Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking components
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 with no less than a 6.0 in any of the four modules
  • A LPI score of 5
  • Comparable results to the TOEFL or IELTS requirements in any other recognized English Language Assessment

English Language Requirement - English is the primary language of instruction and communication at UNBC. If your first language is not English, you must be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in the use of English to participate in classroom instruction and discussion as well as complete written assignments.
