1) Program Admission Requirements
Academic
- general UNBC undergraduate admission requirements apply
- submit official transcripts from a Nursing Diploma program
Non-Academic
- provide evidence of active and continuing registration as a nurse in BC
- submit a record of your immunization status (upon acceptance into the program). The following immunizations are strongly recommended: diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B and varicella. A Mantoux test (PPD) for tuberculosis is also strongly recommended.
Admission Advice
1. Annual documentation of current, practising College of Registered Nurses of BC (CRNBC) licensure is required while enrolled in the program.
2. Admission is based on available space. The fulfillment of admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the post-diploma program.

English Language Requirements
Summary
If English is not your first language, you may meet the English language proficiency requirement in one of the following ways (minimum score):
- Completed five consecutive years of education in English immediately before admission
- Completed 2 full years of full-time post-secondary level studies (or equivalent) at a recognized institution where English is the language of instruction
- A 70% final grade in English 12 or equivalent in the BC secondary system
- A 75% (B) grade in a university transferable English course
- A 2.00 (C ) grade in the UNBC English Language Studies 50 and English Language Studies 170.
- An internet based TOEFL score of 90, with no less than 20 in each of the Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking components
- An IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no less than a 6.0 in any of the four modules
- A final grade of 2 in Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature & Composition or AP Literature & Composition
- A final grade f 3 in International Baccalaureate (IB) English A1 or A2 (higher or subsidiary level)
- A grade of (B) on Cambridge English: Advanced (CEA)
- (no longer listed in 2018/19 calendar; is it still current?) Comparable results to the TOEFL or IELTS requirements in any other recognized English Language Assessment

1. French-speaking Canadians and Canadian First Nations language speakers are exempted from English language requirement for admission.

English Language Requirement - English is the primary language of instruction and communication at UNBC. If your first language is not English, you must be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in the use of English to participate in classroom instruction and discussion as well as complete written assignments.
