Applications can be submitted after October 1 for entry the following September and after May 1 for January entry. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Application before January 31 for the following September and before August 31 for the following January is recommended.

Admission Advice

1. Students transitioning from the Agriculture Technology diploma, Horticulture Crop Production and Protection option (or equivalent) must satisfy the Agriculture Technology programs' entrance requirements

2. If you have allergies to dust, pollen or animal dander you should be cautious of entering the program.


3. If English is a second language (ESL) you must meet the English language proficiency requirement.
Early application to the program is essential so that there is time to conduct any necessary language assessment.

English Language Requirements

Summary

If English is not your first language, you must have one of the following to enter full time academic study (minimum score):

  • Two years of study and graduation from an English-language secondary school
  • Completion of a degree, diploma, or two years of study with a 2.00 CGPA at an English language post-secondary institution recognized by UFV
  • A C+ grade in English 12, English Literature 12, English 12 First Peoples, IB English A (Standard or Higher Level) or AP English
  • A TOEFL score of 88 (internet based),
  • A TOEFL score of 570 (paper based) or 320 (computer based) with a 4.0 TWE (essay) score
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum band score of 6.0
  • A UFV Composition Placement Test score of 48
  • A CAEL score of 70
  • A Cambridge score of a C
  • A CanTEST score of 4.5 with a writing score of 4.0
  • A MELAB score of 85
  • A LPI score of 30 (Level 5)
  • A UFV English as a second language assessment result equivalent to the completion of 80 level ESL writing and grammar
  • Completion of any course or test score with grades that meet the prerequisites for ENGL 105, ENGL 120, CMNS 125 or CMNS 155
  • A C- grade in a first year English or Communications course at UFV
  • A C grade in ENGL 099 or CMNS 099
  • A C+ grade in ENGL 081, ENGL 091 or ESL WG84
  • An Accuplacer Reading Comprehension score of 80 and an Accuplacer WritePlacer score of 6

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

Students must meet the academic requirements of their intended program (detailed within the program admission requirements section for UFV programs within Education Planner).

Many programs require students to have BC secondary school graduation or equivalent to meet entrance requirements. Complete program admission requirements for all UFV programs are detailed in Education Planner.

Out-of-Province

Students must meet the academic requirements of their intended program (detailed within the program admission requirements section for UFV programs within Education Planner).

BC Transfer Student

If you wish to transfer credit from another BC post-secondary institution to UFV please click here.

If you wish to transfer credit from an out-of-province post-secondary institution to UFV please click here.

Mature Student

Post-secondary programs at UFV normally require BC secondary school graduation (or equivalent) for admission. However, some programs accept mature students without secondary school graduation. Each program has specific admission requirements in place to ensure students have a reasonable opportunity to succeed. If mature student entry is available for a program, the requirements and minimum age will be stated. These program admission requirements are outlined for all of UFV's programs in Education Planner.

 

 

International Student

International applicants must have completed the equivalent of Canadian Grade 12 (or near-equivalent standing) plus specific program prerequisites for admission to any UFV career, technical or academic program. In addition, minimum English requirements must also be met.
