  • English 12 (73% grade in last five years)
  • English 12 First Peoples (73% grade in last five years)
  • Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test (level 5 on the composition section in the last two years)
  • ENGL 0600 (C+)
  • ESAL 0570 and 0580 (C+)

  • Foundations of Math 11 (C)
  • Pre-Calculus 11 (C)

Admission Advice

1. A maximum of 25% of the credits required in the program can be obtained through Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR). TRU recognizes that adult learners gain knowledge and experience through life and work experience. The PLAR process assesses this knowledge and skills and grants credit for the learning that has occurred.

2. If you have little or no experience using computers an introductory computer course is recommended.

3. If you have completed Pre-Calculus or Foundations of Math 12 (C+) you will be exempt from the first year Math requirement (MATH 1100) in the program.

English Language Requirements


For students whose first language is not English and wish to enter academic programs without attending ESL courses, you must provide one of the following (minimum scores):

  • A TOEFL score of 88 (internet based) with no section below 20 or 570 (paper based) with a 4.5 on the test of written English
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 with no bands below a 6
  • A Language Proficiency Index score of Level 6
  • A MELAB score of 81
  • A CanTEST score of 4.5 with no component below a 4
  • A CAEL score of 70 with no subset below 60

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program. To qualify for admission to the Bachelor of Business/Arts/Science degree program you will need to have completed BC Grade 12 (or equivalent).

Mature Student

If you do not meet the admission requirements for your intended program it's possible to gain entry through mature student status. To be classified as a mature student you must be at least 19 years old and have been out of school for at least two years. In such cases the grade level requirement (eg -Grade 10, Grade 12) will be waived however individual course prerequisites must still be met (eg-English 10, English 12).

Special Note: It's possible to make up course prerequisites for your intended program through TRU.

Block Transfer within TRU

Graduates of the diploma:

  • will receive 60 credits and admission to 3rd year of TRU's Bachelor of Tourism Management (BTM) Degree;
  • may receive up to 60 credits in TRU's Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree.

Final Note: Minimum grade point average and other requirements may apply. All transfer requirements should be confirmed with advising personnel within the institution.
