Applications may be submitted up to 12 months before the program start date. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Early application is recommended.

Program Options

This program is an option of Business Administration Diploma.

Application Fee: $37

Academic (minimum grade needed in bracket)

1. English

  • English 12 (C+)
  • equivalent course

2. Math

  • Foundations of Math 12 (C+)
  • Pre-Calculus 11 (C+)

Admission Advice

1. You are also recommended to have completed Math 12 and at least one Science 11 course.

2. Mature students without the prerequisites may also qualify for program entry. This involves an assessment based on work experience, studies undertaken since leaving school and an interview with the Program Chair.

3. Secondary school graduates without the prerequisites may gain admission through a multi-level entry system. This involves a combination of Business and upgrading courses in the first year. This format extends the length of the program to three years.

English Language Requirements

Summary

If English is not your first language, you must provide one of the following (minimum scores):

  • Completion of English 12 or equivalent
  • A C+ grade in advanced core courses in the Selkirk College English Language Program and Provincial Level English 51
  • A TOEFL score of 213 (computer) or 80 (internet)
  • A EIKEN grade of pre-1
  • An IELTS score of 6.0
  • A Language Proficiency Index of 4

If you have graduated from a BC Secondary School (or equivalent) you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

If you have graduated from Secondary School (or equivalent) you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

Mature Student

Other Student (including Special Consideration)

Applicants who do not qualify for admission to Selkirk in any of the other admission categories may still qualify for general admission in one of the following two ways:

  • if you are under 19 years old but who have the written recommendation of their secondary school principal; or
  • if you are considered by the Admissions and Standards Committee to be capable of succeeding in college courses based on their particular circumstances.

You must also meet the specific admission requirements of your intended program.

Inter-Institutional Block Arrangements

Graduates of the Business Administration Diploma are eligible for the following block transfer:

  • up to 30 credits within the Bachelor of Arts Degree - TRU-OL
  • up to 60 credits within the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree - TRU-OL*
  • 60 credits within the Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Management Degree - Royal Roads
  • up to 60 credits within the Bachelor of Commerce Degree - UNBC
  • up to 60 credits within the Bachelor of General Studies Degree - TRU-OL
  • up to 72 credits within the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree - OC

(*) Footnote: TRU-OL's Bachelor of Business Administration Degree is offered collaboratively with Selkirk. Many of the courses required to complete the degree can be taken through Selkirk. The remaining courses can be completed by distance education through TRU-OL.

Final Notes: Minimum grade point average and other requirements may apply. All transfer requirements should be confirmed with advising personnel at the intended institution.

Block Transfer out of province

Graduates may advance to the University of Lethbridge's Bachelor of Management Degree through its Diploma Admissions Route. This will enable them to complete the degree with two more years of study.

Business Administration (Accounting/Finance) Diploma graduates can transfer into the fourth semester of a six semester Bachelor of Commerce Degree at Griffith University in Queensland, Australia (after meeting the university's admission requirements).

Business Administration (Professional Management) Diploma graduates can transfer into the fourth semester of a six semester Bachelor of Business (Management) Degree at Griffith University in Queensland, Australia (after meeting the university's admission requirements).
