Applications may be submitted up to 12 months before the program start date. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Early application is recommended.

Summary

If English is not your first language, you must provide one of the following (minimum scores):

  • Completion of English 12 or equivalent
  • A C+ grade in advanced core courses in the Selkirk College English Language Program and Provincial Level English 51
  • A TOEFL score of 213 (computer) or 80 (internet)
  • A EIKEN grade of pre-1
  • An IELTS score of 6.0
  • A Language Proficiency Index of 4

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

If you have graduated from a BC Secondary School (or equivalent) you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

If you have graduated from Secondary School (or equivalent) you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

Mature Student

If you are at least 19 years old at the time of registration you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

Other Student (including Special Consideration)

Applicants who do not qualify for admission to Selkirk in any of the other admission categories may still qualify for general admission in one of the following two ways:

  • if you are under 19 years old but who have the written recommendation of their secondary school principal; or
  • if you are considered by the Admissions and Standards Committee to be capable of succeeding in college courses based on their particular circumstances.

You must also meet the specific admission requirements of your intended program.

Block Transfer within Selkirk

Graduates have the option of returning to Selkirk College for a third year to obtain a diploma in either Ski Resort and Operations Management or Golf Club Management and Operations.

Final Note: Minimum grade point average and other requirements may apply. All transfer requirements should be confirmed with advising personnel within the institution.

Inter-Institutional Block Arrangements

Introductory Note: Normally one year of academic study is made up of 30 credits.

Graduates of the Resort and Hotel Management Diploma are eligible for the following block transfer:

  • up to 30 credits within the Bachelor of Arts Degree - TRU-OL
  • 30 units within the Bachelor of Commerce (Hospitality Services Management Concentration) Degree - UVic
  • up to 60 credits within the Bachelor of Tourism Management Degree - TRU-OL
  • up to 60 credits within the Bachelor of Tourism Management Degree - Capilano
  • up to 60 credits within the Bachelor of General Studies Degree - TRU-OL

Graduate may also pursue related degree studies at Vancouver Island University. For full details contact a college counsellor or program personnel.
