Application Deadline Advice

Fully qualified applicants currently on the wait list may fill the majority of seats for the 2019/2020 cohort. In the event that seats are not filled, seats will be offered to qualified applicants using the new admission process which opens October 1, 2018 and closes December 14, 2018. All supporting documentation must be received by January 15, 2019.

Applications for the 2020/21 class will be accepted starting September 16, 2019 and close December 14, 2019. All supporting documents must be received by January 15, 2020.

Admission Advice 

Admission to the BSN Program is selective and based on a combined evaluation of GPA (based on program pre-requisites), an online Computer Based Assessment of Personal Characteristics (CASPer), and residency.  View details online.

Fully qualified applicants are accepted in the order in which their applications are completed. It is extremely important that the application form and supporting documentation are submitted as early as possible.

English Language Requirements

Summary

If English is not your first language, you must provide one of the following (minimum scores):

  • Completion of English 12 or equivalent
  • A C+ grade in advanced core courses in the Selkirk College English Language Program and Provincial Level English 51
  • A TOEFL score of 213 (computer) or 80 (internet)
  • A EIKEN grade of pre-1
  • An IELTS score of 6.0
  • A Language Proficiency Index of 4

If you have graduated from a BC Secondary School (or equivalent) you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

If you have graduated from Secondary School (or equivalent) you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

Mature Student

If you are at least 19 years old at the time of registration you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

Other Student (including Special Consideration)

Applicants who do not qualify for admission to Selkirk in any of the other admission categories may still qualify for general admission in one of the following two ways:

  • if you are under 19 years old but who have the written recommendation of their secondary school principal; or
  • if you are considered by the Admissions and Standards Committee to be capable of succeeding in college courses based on their particular circumstances.

You must also meet the specific admission requirements of your intended program.
