Application Deadline Advice

Applications may be submitted starting on November 1 for entry the following Fall semester, January 16 for the following Winter semester, and February 1 for the following Summer semester. Early application is strongly recommended.

This program is an option of Associate of Science Degree.

Admission Advice

1. If you do not meet the English entrance requirements it's still possible to be admitted to the program. You will need to complete appropriate upgrading in your first year of studies.

2. Similarly, if you don't meet the Math requirements it's still possible to be admitted to the program. However:

  • registration is restricted to courses where the prerequisite has been met. This means that registration in CHEM 111, COSC 111, MATH 112 and PHYS 111 is not possible until the Math entrance requirement is met.
  • registration in MATH 120 (Pre-Calculus) is strongly advised. Successful completion of this course meets the Math entrance requirement. This must be done in your first year of studies to remain in the program.
3. Students enrolling for the first time at Okanagan College who have completed or are registered in a secondary school Calculus course are eligible to write the UBC-SFU-UVic-UNBC Calculus Exam. Students who pass this exam will be given the option of receiving credit for MATH 112 with a grade equal to the grade obtained on the challenge exam or taking MATH 112 for credit. There is an $88 non-refundable fee for this exam.

English Language Requirements

Summary

If English is not your first language, you must submit one of the following (minimum scores):

  • A TOEFL score of 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), or 79 (internet based)
  • An academic IELTS overall band score of 6.5
  • A Okanagan College English Language Assessment (OCELA) of 6
  • 70% in each of ELSE 060, ESLW 061 and ESLR 062 for admission to a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, Business Administration diploma, Commercial Aviation Diploma or Advance Culinary Arts diploma
  • 60% in each of ELSE 060, ESLW 061 and ESLR 062 for admission to Arts, Science, Computer Information Systems, and Engineering Technology programs
  • 70% in English 12 or equivalent for Business programs
  • 60% in English 12 or equivalent for Arts, Science, Engineering Technology, and most diploma programs
  • 50% in an English literature or composition course at a recognized university or college in Canada
  • Level 5 on the Language Proficiency Index for Business or Level 4 for Arts, Science, technology and most diploma programs
  • A degree or diploma from an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction

Inter-Institutional Block Arrangements

Graduates will have the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree at several universities in the province. Program electives will determine the subject areas that may be pursued and the possible receiving institutions.

Final Notes: Minimum grade point average and other requirements may apply. All transfer requirements should be confirmed with advising personnel at the intended institution.
