Application Deadline Advice

Applications may be submitted starting on November 1 for entry the following Fall semester, January 16 for the following Winter semester, and February 1 for the following Summer semester. Early application is strongly recommended.

Admission Advice

1. The Civil Engineering Technology Diploma program emphasizes the use of computers in solving engineering problems. It is recommended that you have some familiarity with computers. An introductory course in computers or computer experience is strongly recommended.

2. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is recommended.

English Language Requirements


If English is not your first language, you must submit one of the following (minimum scores):

  • A TOEFL score of 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), or 79 (internet based)
  • An academic IELTS overall band score of 6.5
  • A Okanagan College English Language Assessment (OCELA) of 6
  • 70% in each of ELSE 060, ESLW 061 and ESLR 062 for admission to a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, Business Administration diploma, Commercial Aviation Diploma or Advance Culinary Arts diploma
  • 60% in each of ELSE 060, ESLW 061 and ESLR 062 for admission to Arts, Science, Computer Information Systems, and Engineering Technology programs
  • 70% in English 12 or equivalent for Business programs
  • 60% in English 12 or equivalent for Arts, Science, Engineering Technology, and most diploma programs
  • 50% in an English literature or composition course at a recognized university or college in Canada
  • Level 5 on the Language Proficiency Index for Business or Level 4 for Arts, Science, technology and most diploma programs
  • A degree or diploma from an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction

Inter-Institutional Block Arrangements

Introductory Note: One year of post-secondary study is normally equal to 30 credits.

Graduates of the Civil Engineering Technology Diploma may pursue the following block transfer opportunities:

  • up to 30 credits within the Bachelor of Arts Degree - TRU-OL
  • up to 60 credits within the Bachelor of General Studies Degree - TRU-OL

Graduates may also enter a Bridging program at Camosun College, which allows for entry into the third year of Engineering degree programs at UVic and UBC. For complete details contact program personnel or an OC educational advisor.

Final Notes: Minimum grade point average and other requirements may apply. All transfer requirements should be confirmed with advising personnel at the intended institution.
