Application Deadline Advice

For the September Intake

Applications will be accepted starting at 8:30am on the first business day in November. The application deadline 4:30pm on the last business day in February.

For January Intake

Applications will be accepted starting at 9:00am on the first business day in April. The application deadline is 4:30pm on the last business day in July

1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic (minimum grade needed in bracket)

1. High school graduation (or equivalent)

2. English

Either:

One of:
  • English 12 (70%)
  • English 12 First Peoples (70%)
  • Technical and Professional Communications (TPC) 12 (70%)
  • Equivalent Provincial Level ABE course
Or

A grade between 50 - 69% inclusive in one of:
  • English 12
  • English 12 First Peoples
  • Technical and Professional Communications (TPC) 12
  • equivalent Provincial Level Adult Basic Education English course
and a minimum score of Level 5 on the Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test.

3. Math

One of:

  • Pre-Calculus 11 (67%)
  • Foundations of Math 11 (67%)
  • Principles of Math 11 (67%)
  • MATH 011 (67%)
  • MATH 084 and Math 085 (70%)
  • IALG 011 (70%)

4. Biology 

One of:

  • Biology 12 course which includes human anatomy and physiology (67%)
  • equivalent Provincial Level ABE Biology course (67%)

5. Pre-Practical Nursing Anatomy and Physiology (PNUR 113) (70%)

Non-Academic

  • Red Cross Standard First Aid or St John Ambulance Standard First Aid
  • a CPR Level C course no more than 12 months before admission
  • Criminal Record Check (within 3 months before admission)
  • negative tuberculin test or chest x-ray, taken within six months before the start of the program (or evidence of an appropriate follow-up if the test was positive)
  • current immunizations

Admission Advice:

  • Application will be ranked based on the grade average of the courses satisfying the Grade 11 Math, Grade 12 English and Grade 12 Biology admission requirements.

Applicants also have to satisfy OC's institution admission requirements as listed below.

English Language Requirements

Summary

If English is not your first language, you must submit one of the following (minimum scores):

  • A TOEFL score of 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), or 79 (internet based)
  • An academic IELTS overall band score of 6.5
  • A Okanagan College English Language Assessment (OCELA) of level 4
  • 70% in each of  EAPD 040, EAPW 040 and EAPR 040 for admission to a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree
  • 60% in each of EAPD 040, EAPW 040 and EAPR 040 for admission to Arts, Science, Business Administration Diploma, Commercial Aviation, Advanced Culinary Arts, Computer Information Systems, and Engineering Technology programs
  • 70% in English 12 or equivalent for Business programs
  • 60% in English 12 or equivalent for Arts, Science, Engineering Technology, and most diploma programs
  • 50% in an English literature or composition course at a recognized university or college in Canada
  • Level 5 on the Language Proficiency Index for Business, or Level 4 for Arts, Science, technology and most diploma programs
  • A degree or diploma from an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction
