1. In some cases the Department Head may admit applicants who are lacking some of the program admission requirements. In such cases you must be able to demonstrate that you have a good chance of succeeding in the program.
Applicants also have to satisfy NVIT's Institutional Admission Requirements.
English Language Requirement: To create the best possible learning environment at NVIT, it is critical all students be able to participate in classroom activities and complete written assignments. English is the language of instruction and communication at NVIT; therefore, all applicants must demonstrate fluency in English by fulfilling one of the following options:
General Institute Admission Requirements: Admission requirements vary by program. Please refer to the relevant program section in the calendar.
BC Secondary School Graduate Admission: All applicants must submit official transcripts for highschool work they have undertaken. An official transcript is one sent directly from the issuing institution to the NVIT Office of the Registrar. Transcripts submitted to NVIT become the property of NVIT and will not be returned to the student.
BC highschool transcripts can be requested from the highschool, school district office, or the Ministry of Education. To order a transcript from the Ministry of Education, complete the online application form. Payment of $10 to be made by credit card, must be included with the request.
BC Transfer Student Admission: Applicants who have completed equivalent post-secondary level courses at other accredited institutions may be eligible for transfer credit. Please complete the Application for Transfer Credit form and submit to the Office of the Registrar.
Applicants eligible for such credit may be asked to provide detailed course outlines for courses under consideration. Please note, calendar descriptions do not provide enough information to determine equivalencies.
To fulfill residency requirements, a minimum of 50% of the credits required for a credential, must be completed at NVIT. As well, students wishing to complete a second credential at NVIT, must complete additional courses equal to at least 50% of the total number of credits required for each additional credential.

The grade level requirement (grade 12) will be waived for students classified as mature; however, individual course prerequisites listed for the programs or courses must still be met.
Any applicant younger than 19 will be assessed individually. All applicants applying for mature student admission status are urged to seek assistance from an Academic and Financial Planner.
