Admission Advice

1. If you are unsure about the level of Math preparation needed for success in business courses it's a good idea to consult with a Business Administration faculty member.

2. You can also enter the program with department permission without meeting the prerequisites.

English Language Requirements

Summary
If English is not your first language, you can either submit TOEFL/IELTS results or complete college-prep English for entry into academic programs.

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

Age Requirement - You must normally be at least 18 years old to attend North Island College. If under 18 years old, you may be admitted:

  • if you have secondary school graduation and will turn 18 years old before the end of the first calendar year of your post-secondary studies; or
  • by special request and discussion with an NIC counsellor.

English Language Requirement - You must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for your desired program.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program.

Out-of-Province

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program.

BC Transfer Student

Transfer credit may be granted and used to meet program admission requirements or program requirements leading to a credential.

NIC will grant credit for formal learning gained at post-secondary institutions if the course objectives and material are equivalent to courses offered at NIC. Only credits, not grades, are transferred.

You must apply for transfer credit and provide official transcripts directly from, or in sealed envelopes, from the sending institution. The Application for Transfer Credit form may be found here.

Out-of-Province Transfer Student

Inter-Institutional Block Arrangements

Many of the courses in the Business Administration Certificate transfer to other universities and universities in the province. Detailed course transfer information may be found by accessing the Business Management Diploma Programs Transfer Guide at the BC Transfer Guide.

Final Notes: Minimum grade point average and other requirements may apply. All transfer requirements should be confirmed with advising personnel at the intended institution.
