1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic (minimum grade needed in bracket)

One of:

  • English 11 (B)
  • Communications 12 (B)
  • TOEFL internet-based = at least 76, with no sub score less than 20 in Speaking and Listening,18 in Reading and Writing (within the last two years)
  • IELTS Academic score = at least overall band 6.0, with 6.0 in Speaking and Listening, and 5.5 in Reading and Writing (within the last two years)
  • CAEL score of at least 60, with no sub score less than 50 (within the last two years)

Non-Academic

  • attend a Health Care Assistant information session
  • the following are required after applicants receive a conditional offer of admission and before final admission is granted:
    • Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General's Criminal Records Review Program (within 6 months before program entry)
    • Food Safe Level I 
    • First-Aid Certificate (eg - St John's Ambulance Standard First Aid or Red Cross Standard First Aid)
    • Canadian CPR Level C
    • up-to-date immunizations consistent with requirements of the Health Authorities
    • TB skin test

Admission Advice

1. Applicants who have lived outside of Canada as an adult are required to secure a Criminal Record Search with the Vulnerable Sector from their country of origin. Please contact the Office of Admissions for further direction on obtaining your criminal record check

2. Students in the program are required to perform a variety of cognitive, emotional and psychomotor skills safely and knowledgeably.

English Language Requirements

English is the primary language of study at KPU. Therefore, all applicants must be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of English language proficiency for their undergraduate, vocational or preparatory area of study. English requirements can be found here.

BC Transfer Student

Mature Student

At KPU, we proudly welcome students of all walks and ages. If you have not graduated from High School, have taken fewer than 24 post-secondary credits, and are 19 years of age or older, we can admit you as a mature student. Mature students bring a lot of experience and diversity into the classroom, and KPU will support you in achieving your personal and professional goals. International Student

Kwantlen Polytechnic University accepts applications from international students who meet the English Proficiency Requirement. All international undergraduate applicants are required to demonstrate English language proficiency prior to admission.
