Academic/Non-Academic (minimum grade in bracket)

1. One of:

  • A related two year diploma or associate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution (72%) with a post-secondary English course (72%).
  • completed the requirements for the Peace Officer General Training program or equivalent with at least 3 years of full-time service in a recognized public safety agency
  • mature student status
2. English 12 (C) or equivalent

Admission Advice

1. An interview and assessment may also be required.

2. Related work experience and/or study will enhance your application.

3. If English is not your first language, an appropriate Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score will be needed (220 computer or 570 paper).

English Language Requirements


One of the following (minimum score):

  • A C grade in English 12 or English Literature 12 or Technical and Professional Communications 12
  • A B grade in Communications 12
  • A TOEFL score of 560 (paper based), 220 (computer based) or 83 (internet based)
  • An IELTS score of 6.5
  • A LPI score of 4
  • A GED Language Arts Writing and Reading score of 450
  • Completion of an Adult Basic Education English course equivalent to DVST 0355 or higher
  • A grade of 3 or C in Advance Placement (AP) English Language or Literature
  • A grade of 6 or C in International Baccalaureate English Level A (higher level)
  • An undergraduate degree from an English speaking post-secondary institution
  • Other equivalents may be considered by the registrar
