Academic (minimum grade needed in bracket)

  • English 12 (C)
  • equivalent course

Non-Academic

  • be at least 18 years old
  • valid driver's license
  • complete a fire service knowledge assessment
  • current CPR Level C Certificate and Basic First Aid Certification
  • completion of Incident Command System (ICS) Level 100
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
  • two written references (1 professional and 1 personal)

Admission Advice

1. After meeting the above requirements you will need to attend a medical exam and interview.

2. Previous volunteer work and/or fluency in an additional language other than English may grant you additional points in the selective entry process.

English Language Requirements

Summary

One of the following (minimum score):

  • A C grade in English 12 or English Literature 12 or Technical and Professional Communications 12
  • A B grade in Communications 12
  • A TOEFL score of 560 (paper based), 220 (computer based) or 83 (internet based)
  • An IELTS score of 6.5
  • A LPI score of 4
  • A GED Language Arts Writing and Reading score of 450
  • Completion of an Adult Basic Education English course equivalent to DVST 0355 or higher
  • A grade of 3 or C in Advance Placement (AP) English Language or Literature
  • A grade of 6 or C in International Baccalaureate English Level A (higher level)
  • An undergraduate degree from an English speaking post-secondary institution
  • Other equivalents may be considered by the registrar
