1) Program Admission Requirements

To enter directly in to First Year Mining at BCIT, applicants must meet all of the following entrance requirements and will be accepted on a first qualified basis as long as space remains:

Academic
(minimum grade needed in bracket)

1. English Studies 12 (67%) or English First Peoples 12 (67%) or equivalent

2. Physics 11 (67%) or PHYS 040 (67%) or equivalent

3. Chemistry 11 (67%) or CHEM 040 (67%) or CHEM 0401/0402 (67%) or equivalent

4. Principles of Math 12 (67%) or Pre-Calculus 12 (67%) or equivalent


Admission Advice

1. The collaborative Mining Engineering and Technology Degree/Diploma Program allows students to complete the first two semesters of the program at the Coast Mountain College before transferring to the full program: Mineral Exploration and Mining Technology or Mining and Mineral Resource Engineering Programs at BCIT in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. 
  • Completion of the first year of the program at your home institute (Coast Mountain College) 
  • Transfer to BCIT for the second year of the diploma program

Applicants also have to satisfy CMTN's institution admission requirements as listed below.

English Language Requirements

Summary

If English is not your first language, you must have a TOEFL score of at least 220 (CBT), 83 (IBT), or 560 (PBT)

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

CMTN admits applicants with any level of education. However, you will also have to meet any admission requirements of your intended program. For instance many CMTN programs have entrance requirements that include proof of secondary school graduation and/ or completion of secondary school courses.

To have courses from other institutions evaluated for transfer credit at CMTN you must submit an Transfer Credit Request Form along with official transcripts from each institution attended. For more information about transferring credit, contact a CMTN educational advisor and review their website.

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program.
