1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic

1. High school graduation or Mature Student status

Non-Academic

  • Criminal Record Check
  • two letters of reference confirming suitability for working with young children, written and dated within one year of the application
  • resume
  • up-to-date immunizations (including clear TB test result)
  • a written statement (between 500-800 words) outlining work and/or volunteer experience with children age birth to six, career goals, and reasons for taking the ECCE program

Admission Advice

1. The 30-credit ECCE Certificate program does not accept applications. Students interested in completing only the ECCE Certificate need to apply for admission to the ECCE Diploma and work towards earning the Certificate upon completing the graduation requirements of the ECCE Certificate. 

2. English proficiency is required for all students entering CMTN programs.  Please visit the English Language Alternatives page to see how this requirement can be met using the equivalent of English Studies 12 (click on domestic or international language requirements). 

3. A successful Criminal Record Check is required for anyone working with children in a child care centre. Certain crimes make practicum placement, graduation and future employment impossible.

4. After acceptance, you must take the CAT English assessment. If you do not receive a satisfactory score, you will have the option of English upgrading and a modified course load.

CMTN admits applicants with any level of education. However, you will also have to meet any admission requirements of your intended program. For instance many CMTN programs have entrance requirements that include proof of secondary school graduation and/ or completion of secondary school courses.

To have courses from other institutions evaluated for transfer credit at CMTN you must submit an Transfer Credit Request Form along with official transcripts from each institution attended. For more information about transferring credit, contact a CMTN educational advisor and review their website.

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program.
