1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic
See admission requirements of the Trades Foundation program of your interest/choice

Non-Academic
1. A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person (under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, S.C. 2001, c. 27) legally entitled to work in Canada;

2. Living in British Columbia.

3. Not a full-time student (not enrolled in high school or post-secondary training).

4. Not actively participating in another provincially or federally funded labour market program.

5. You are a woman whose employment status is:
  • a. Unemployed, or working less than 20 hours per week, or
  • b. Precariously Employed – meaning an individual who does not meet the definition of Unemployed, but who:
a. is working in unstable or unsustainable employment (including self-employment)
b. is working, but has a total employment (including self-employment) income that is below the market basket measures set out by Statistics Canada (speak to program service provider for further details) or refer to https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=1110023001;
c. is working in an industry or occupation that is likely to be replaced by technology or automation in the near future;
d. is working in an occupation or profession that is clearly lower than their skills or qualifications and that provides no imminent prospect of advancement; or has Just Cause for leaving their current employment (speak to program service provider for further details regarding Just Cause).

2. Submit a one page letter describing your interest in the program, your future career goals, and your past work and educational experiences.

2) Institution Admission Requirements

Applicants also have to satisfy Camosun's institution admission requirements as listed below.

English Language Requirements

Students may meet the English proficiency requirement with one or more of the following alternatives.

International students should contact Camosun International to learn about your options towards direct entry into our programs.

  • LPI score of 5 or higher
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with:
    • minimum of 6.5 in Reading and Writing
    • minimum of 6.0 in Listening and Speaking
  • TOEFL scores:
    • iBT 88-90 (min 20 in each section)
    • CB 230 (min 4.5 TWE)
    • PB 570 (min 4.5 TWE)
  • Camosun English assessment

 

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

English Language Requirement: You must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for your desired program.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

Current BC/Yukon high school student can apply for provisional admission between September 15 and May 15, please check here for special high school admission process

If you are a secondary school graduate you are eligible for general admission to Camosun. You must also meet the specific admission requirements of your intended program. (These admission requirements are detailed within the program listings for Camosun within Education Planner.)

BC Transfer Student

If you possess Grade 12 graduation from any recognized institution you are eligible for general admission to Camosun. You must also meet specific admission requirements for your intended program. (These admission requirements are detailed in the program listings for Camosun in Education Planner.)

If you have completed post-secondary studies at another institution and wish to gain transfer credit* please see the Transfer Credit web page.

Footnote (*): Transfer credit is defined as academic work that is completed at another institution that is formally recognized as being equivalent to a Camosun course.

Out-of-Province Transfer Student
