  • equivalent Camosun assessment

3. Math

One of:

  • Pre-calculus 11 (C)
  • Foundations of Math 11 (C)
  • MATH 073 (C)
  • MATH 137 (C)
  • equivalent Camosun assessment

4. PNUR 101 (C+) or equivalent 


Note:

  • a 'C' or higher in Biology 12 is a prerequisite for PNUR 101.
  • Camosun College's BIOL 150 and BIOL 151, or BIOL 152 and BIOL 153, or BIOL 143 and 144 may be used as equivalents to PNUR 101
Non-Academic
  • volunteering in a health care facility are recommended
  • a TB test is mandatory. This must be done within three months of the program start date and documentation submitted before the start of the first practicum.
  • basic computer literacy (ie-keyboarding and e-mail skills) is strongly recommended

Admission Advice

1. Note (*): If you study at a high school outside of BC in Canada, please check Canadian High School Equivalency

2. Attendance at a program information session is highly recommended.

3. There is priority seating in this program for students of Indigenous ancestry. 

4. Upon acceptance into the program and before the program starts, you are required to provide the following:

  • TB skin test result (must be done within 3 months of program start)
  • Evidence of of your immunizations or immunity to preventable, communicable diseases. It's highly recommended you maintain current immunizations as per the Practice Education Guidelines of B.C. 
  • Yearly respirator mask 'fit-testing'. Fitting will be completed in the program and you will be responsible for associated costs
  • Standard First Aid certificate (valid for 3 years) 
  • CPR Level 'C' 
  • Criminal Record Check. Camosun will email you with information on how to complete the Criminal Record Check (CRC) process. You are responsible for all associated costs
  • Hepatitis B and the flu vaccines are highly recommended and are available at your local health clinic or through your physician\
  • It is also recommended that you volunteer in a heath care facility prior to starting this program

5. You'll be expected to have basic computer literacy, including experience with keyboarding, web search and email skills.

6. If you have back, neck or arm injuries or serious skin disorders such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis or latex allergy, you should carefully weigh such factors before applying to the program.

7. If you have significant health challenges you are advised to consult with the Nursing Department.

English Language Requirements

Students may meet the English proficiency requirement with one or more of the following alternatives.

International students should contact Camosun International to learn about your options towards direct entry into our programs.

  • LPI score of 5 or higher
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with:
    • minimum of 6.5 in Reading and Writing
    • minimum of 6.0 in Listening and Speaking
  • TOEFL scores:
    • iBT 88-90 (min 20 in each section)
    • CB 230 (min 4.5 TWE)
    • PB 570 (min 4.5 TWE)
  • Camosun English assessment

 

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

English Language Requirement: You must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for your desired program.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

Current BC/Yukon high school student can apply for provisional admission between September 15 and May 15, please check here for special high school admission process
