Application Deadline Advice

Online applications are open from September 03 to December 13, 2019 for the September 2020 intake.

Proofing documents/transcripts should be submitted by document deadlines: January 10, 2020 for the initial admission requirements; and May 15, 2020 for final document submission.

1) Program Admission Requirements

The admission process consists of three stages. Application is competitive.

Stage 1:

Academic (minimum grade needed in bracket)

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. English

One of:

  • English 12 (B)
  • English 12 First Peoples (B)
  • both ENLG 091 (B) and ENGL 093 (B)
  • both ENGL 092 (B) and ENGL 094 (B)

  • both ELD 092 (B) and 094 (B)
  • ELD 097 (B)

  • equivalent Camosun assessment
  • equivalent external assessment  

3. Math

One of:

  • Pre-Calculus 12 (B)
  • MATH 097 (B)
  • MATH 100 (B)
  • MATH 107 (B)
  • MATH 108 (B)
  • MATH 115 (B)
  • equivalent Camosun assessment

4. Physics

One of:

  • Physics 12 (B)
  • PHYS 104 (B)
  • PHYS 114 (B)

5. Biology

One of:

  • Biology 12 (B)
  • BIOL 090 (B)
  • BIOL 103 (B)

6. Completion of a Medical Terminology course consisting of a minimum of 60 instructional hours with a letter grade of B or higher. (Note: The Medical Terminology Assessment administered through Island Health may not be used to meet this requirement.)

Non-Academic
  • A completed Physical Requirements Form
  • Attendance at an information session
  • 40 hours of volunteer work in a patient-related environment
  • A resume outlining work experience and personal achievements
  • A cover letter answering "How do you see your academic and life experience as preparation for the Medical Radiography program?"

Stage 2:

  • A select number of applicants will be invited to attend an interview session 

Stage 3:

The top students each year will be offered seats. To confirm your seat, you must:

  • submit a negative TB skin test or chest x-ray. Current immunizations are highly recommended;
  • current standard first aid and CPR level C is required prior to the first clinical placement;
  • have a respiratory mask fit-testing done.
  • complete a criminal record check done through the BC Government's Criminal Record Review program.
Admission Advice
1. Fluent in the use of computers is required.

2. You are highly recommended to maintain current immunizations as per the Practice Education Guidelines of B.C.

2) Institution Admission Requirements

Applicants also have to satisfy Camosun's institution admission requirements as listed below.

English Language Requirements

Students may meet the English proficiency requirement with one or more of the following alternatives.

International students should contact Camosun International to learn about your options towards direct entry into our programs.

  • LPI score of 5 or higher
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with:
    • minimum of 6.5 in Reading and Writing
    • minimum of 6.0 in Listening and Speaking
  • TOEFL scores:
    • iBT 88-90 (min 20 in each section)
    • CB 230 (min 4.5 TWE)
    • PB 570 (min 4.5 TWE)
  • Camosun English assessment

 

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

English Language Requirement: You must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for your desired program.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

Current BC/Yukon high school student can apply for provisional admission between September 15 and May 15, please check here for special high school admission process

If you possess Grade 12 graduation from any recognized institution you are eligible for general admission to Camosun. You must also meet specific admission requirements for your intended program. (These admission requirements are detailed in the program listings for Camosun in Education Planner.)
