Academic

One of:

  • English 11 (C)
  • ENGL 050 (C)
  • ENGL 059 (C+)
  • LPI (total score of 20, essay score of 24/40)
  • TOEFL IBT (76 overall, 20 Speaking and Listening, 18 Reading and Writing)
  • IELTS (6 overall, 6 Speaking and Listening, 5.5 Reading and Writing
  • CLB PT (Listening 7, Speaking 7, Reading 6 and Writing 6)
Non-Academic
  • attend a program information session
  • attend an orientation on the first day of class
  • volunteer experience in a long term care facility is strongly recommended
  • a TB test is mandatory. This must be done within three months of the start date for the practicum.
  • Hepatitis B and the flu vaccine are highly recommended
  • basic computer literacy (including experience with keyboarding and e-mail) is strongly recommended
Admission Advice

1. Before the first clinical placement you must:

  • participate in a Criminal Record Check (This will be done through the college.)
  • provide a Foodsafe Certificate
  • provide a current Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR Level C certification 

2. If you have back, neck, or arm injury or serious skin disorders (eg-psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis) or a latex allergy you should weigh these factors before applying.

3. If you have any significant health challenges please consult with the Program Chair.

English Language Requirements

Students may meet the English proficiency requirement with one or more of the following alternatives.

International students should contact Camosun International to learn about your options towards direct entry into our programs.

  • LPI score of 5 or higher
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with:
    • minimum of 6.5 in Reading and Writing
    • minimum of 6.0 in Listening and Speaking
  • TOEFL scores:
    • iBT 88-90 (min 20 in each section)
    • CB 230 (min 4.5 TWE)
    • PB 570 (min 4.5 TWE)
  • Camosun English assessment

 

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

English Language Requirement: You must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for your desired program.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

Current BC/Yukon high school student can apply for provisional admission between September 15 and May 15, please check here for special high school admission process
