For entry into Level 1:

Academic (minimum grade needed in bracket)

1. English

One of:

  • English 10 (C)
  • ENGL 050 (C)
  • ENGL 057 (C)
  • equivalent assessment

2. Math

One of:

  • Apprenticeship and Workplace Math 10 (C+)*
  • MATH 037 (C+)*
  • equivalent assessment

(*): One of these courses is preferred. However, Camosun will also accept one of the following Math courses:

  • Principles of Math 10 (C)
  • Applications of Math 11 (C)
  • Foundations and Pre-Calculus 10 (C)
  • MATH 053 (C)
Special Note: The Math and English requirements may also be met by completing the General Educational Development (GED) exams with a minimum average standard score of 500 and a minimum standard score of 500 for both Math and English

Non-Academic

  • completed Food Safe Level 1
  • proof of at least three months of work experience related to the food service industry with a letter of reference from your employer
  • attend an orientation (about one month before classes start)
  • submit a medical assessment to Enrolment Services that confirms good health (two weeks before classes start)

For entry into Level 2:

Academic/Non-Academic

You must:

  • have successfully completed Level 1 or equivalent (for equivalency questions, contact the Apprenticeship Office at 250.370.3856)
  • attend an orientation (about one month before classes start)
  • submit a medical assessment to Enrolment Services that confirms good health (two weeks before classes start)

English Language Requirements

Students may meet the English proficiency requirement with one or more of the following alternatives.

International students should contact Camosun International to learn about your options towards direct entry into our programs.

  • LPI score of 5 or higher
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with:
    • minimum of 6.5 in Reading and Writing
    • minimum of 6.0 in Listening and Speaking
  • TOEFL scores:
    • iBT 88-90 (min 20 in each section)
    • CB 230 (min 4.5 TWE)
    • PB 570 (min 4.5 TWE)
  • Camosun English assessment

 

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

English Language Requirement: You must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for your desired program.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

Current BC/Yukon high school student can apply for provisional admission between September 15 and May 15, please check here for special high school admission process

If you are a secondary school graduate you are eligible for general admission to Camosun. You must also meet the specific admission requirements of your intended program. (These admission requirements are detailed within the program listings for Camosun within Education Planner.)

BC Transfer Student

If you possess Grade 12 graduation from any recognized institution you are eligible for general admission to Camosun. You must also meet specific admission requirements for your intended program. (These admission requirements are detailed in the program listings for Camosun in Education Planner.)
