1) Program Admission Requirements

Entrance requirements

Competitive Entry

Students currently in the ECET diploma program do not need to apply through the Admissions department. These students select their preferred path with the program area in the second term of first year, and can select an ECET diploma option or the Engineering degree. Entry to the degree is competitive based on GPA. Students chosen for the degree path will be moved into the degree program.

Students who are offered a seat in the BEng and choose to decline it will be required to compete for entry in a future term, if they still wish to pursue the program. That includes students who decline their seat to do a Co-op work term.

Only applicants that have previously completed the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, Mechatronics and Robotics or Biomedical Engineering diplomas, or equivalent, are required to submit an application.

  • Post-Secondary: one of the following from BCIT*:
      • Completion of all ECET first year diploma courses with a minimum average of 75% or

      • ECET diploma (any option) with a minimum average of 70% or

    • Biomedical Engineering diploma with a minimum average of 70% and completion of one additional Physics course

*If you have an equivalent level of education from another institution, please apply as a Direct Entry applicant.
