1) Program Admission Requirements

Note: The September 2017 intake is now closed for new applications. Applications for readmission may be submitted. Applications for the September 2018 intake will be accepted starting November 1, 2017.

Entrance requirements

Applicants must meet all entrance requirements and will be accepted on a first qualified basis as long as space remains. When available intakes are full, qualified applicants are wait-listed.

Applicants must meet all entrance requirements prior to applying to this program. If you are uncertain or donâ??t meet the requirements we strongly recommend you complete any applicable Trades Pre-entry Tests before applying.

Follow up program

In Level 3 of Electronics Technician Common Core students will rank the follow-up programs in order of their preference:

  • Telecommunications Technician
  • Wireless Communications Technician

Entrance to the follow-up programs is competitive with preference given to applicants based on their GPA in Electronics Technician Common Core.

Applicants that have previously completed the Electronics Technician Common Core program are required to apply directly to their first choice follow-up program.

Technology entry

The Technology Entry (TE) program is a full-time, day school program which provides academic upgrading to students wishing to enrol in Computing, Engineering, Electronic, and Health Sciences programs at BCIT.

The TE program provides courses in chemistry, communication, mathematics, and physics that meet program prerequisites for selected programs at BCIT. The TE program also includes an introductory course in computer applications and a learning skills course. The program is supportive to those who require English-language training.

myCommunication

Within two business days of submitting your completed application, BCIT will send a message to your personal and myBCIT e-mail addresses. All correspondence regarding your application will be posted to your online myCommunication account at my.bcit.ca. We'll send you an e-mail when a new message is posted. It's important to watch for these e-mails or regularly check your account online.

You can expect to receive communication concerning the status of your application within four weeks.


 

2) Institution Admission Requirements

Applicants also have to satisfy BCIT's institution admission requirements as listed below.

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

You will need to meet the specific admission requirements of your intended program. Most programs require Grade 12 graduation with specific Grade 11 and 12 courses. Some programs also have non-academic requirements such as submitting a resume or participating in an interview.

Application priority is given to BC residents who are Canadian citizens and landed immigrants who have lived in BC for the 12 months immediately before enrolment. Second priority is given to out-of-province citizens and landed immigrants. Third priority is given to applicants who are neither Canadian citizens nor landed immigrants.

Mature Student

If you have not graduated from secondary school you can still be admitted to BCIT based on your relevant experience.

To gain Mature student status, you must also meet BCIT's English-language requirements as well as any prerequisites for your desired program.
