This program satisfies the training standard set by the BC Industry Training Authority (ITA) for:

A "Welder Level C" is able to weld various steel and aluminum parts using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW processes, in the fabrication, construction, erection and repair of components or structures in plate and structural applications.
The format of the program combines in-school and work-based training. This training is normally offered over one year.
The in-school training part is 12 weeks or six weeks per level. This block of training is normally delivered through an ITA approved training institution. Sometimes it may also be met through approved training models (distance education, part-time) and/or a level challenge exam.
The work-based training totals 1000 hours. Based on a 40-hour work week this involves 25 weeks of training.
