Application Deadline Advice

Applications, along with transcripts and all supporting documents, will be accepted between November 1st and April 1st. 

An entrance audition or interview will be scheduled once all required documents are received. Applications received after April 1st will be considered subject to space availability.

1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic

  • VCC's Music Diploma (or equivalent) with at least a "B" average and at least an "A-" grade in the specialized performance or academic area
Non-Academic
  • Written proposal to the VCC music department outlining your goals and proposed program of work. This letter must clearly state how the program will fit your career aspirations
  • Two letters of recommendation (written by persons other than family or close friends within three months prior to the application deadline) to assess your potential success in the degree and your ability to carry out the proposed plan of work
  • Successfully audition in a specialized performance area (ie - voice, instrument or composition) or if you wish to pursue an academic stream, submit two recent 3500 word papers
Admission Advice

1. If English is not your first language and you are presenting foreign documents, you are required to do the VCC English Language Assessment with at least the scores of 145 overall along with 27/30 in speaking, 27/30 in listening, 16/30 in essay and 50/70 in reading. 

2. An entrance audition or interview will be scheduled once all documents are received.

3. All requests for transfer credits or course exemptions must be submitted with your application.

BC Transfer Student

Students transfering between post-secondary institutions in B.C. may refer to the BC Transfer Guide to find program transfer credits or BC Articulation Handbook for entrance requirement equivalencies.

If you have prior post-secondary education that you want to transfer to VCC, you must make a formal request through the Registrar's Office by completing an Approval for Transfer Credit form and attaching all required documents. For more information call 604.871.7000.

Mature Student

You must be at least 18 years old (unless you have graduated from Secondary School) to meet the general admission requirement for VCC. In addition, specific program admission requirements must also be met.
