Application Deadline Advice

This program admits students based on a competitive selection process. 

The application deadline for international students who do not already have a valid study permit is in April. The deadline for applicants with a valid study permit is in June. Please check the website for specific application deadlines. All applicants are encouraged to apply early.

1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic

  • Completion of VCC's Music Diploma (or equivalent) with at least a "B" average and at least an "A-" in the specialized performance or academic area
Non-Academic
  • Written proposal to the VCC music department outlining your goals and proposed program of work. This letter must clearly state how the program will fit your career aspirations
  • Two letters of recommendation (written by persons other than family or close friends within three months prior to the application deadline) to assess your potential success in the degree and your ability to carry out the proposed plan of work
  • Successfully audition in a specialized performance area (ie - voice, instrument or composition) or if you wish to pursue an academic stream, submit two recent 3500 word papers (written within 12 months prior to applying)
Admission Advice

1. If English is not your first language and you are presenting foreign documents, you are required to do the VCC English Language Assessment with at least a total score of 145 along with 27/30 in speaking, 27/30 in listening, 16/30 in essay and 50/70 in reading. 

2. An entrance audition or interview will be scheduled once all documents are received.

3. All requests for transfer credits or course exemptions must be submitted with your application.

BC Transfer Student

Students transferring between post-secondary institutions in BC may refer to the BC Transfer Guide to search course transferability.

If you have completed some post-secondary education at another institution, you can possibly earn transfer credits toward your program at VCC. Students are responsible for initiating the transfer credit process by submitting a formal request (an Approval for Transfer Credit form) to Registrar's Office attaching all required documents. 

Out-of-Province Transfer Student

Mature Student
