1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic (minimum grade needed in brackets)

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. English

One of:

  • English 12 (C-)
  • Communications 12 (C-)
  • Academic IELTS (6.0 overall, with no band less than 5.5)
  • TOEFL iBT internet-based (80 overall)
  • Equivalent English proficiency

3. Math

One of:

  • Foundations of Math 11 (C+)
  • Pre-Calculus 11 (C)
  • VCC MATH 0861 (C+) and MATH 0871 (C+)
  • VCC Math Assessment (Basic Math 80%, Basic Algebra 60%)
  • equivalent course or assessment 

Admission Advice

1. If you have completed high school and the Career Preparation Program in Hospitality and Tourism, please make sure you inform the Department Head about this.

2. A strong "people-focus", familiarity with computers, basic keyboarding skills, and fluency in a second language are further assets that will strengthen your chances for success in the program.

3. All requests for transfer credits or course exemptions must be submitted with your application.

All applicants are required to demonstrate the appropriate level of English language proficiency to function successfully in an English-speaking classroom.

BC Transfer Student

Students transferring between post-secondary institutions in BC may refer to the BC Transfer Guide to search course transferability.

If you have completed some post-secondary education at another institution, you can possibly earn transfer credits toward your program at VCC. Students are responsible for initiating the transfer credit process by submitting a formal request (an Approval for Transfer Credit form) to Registrar's Office attaching all required documents. 

Out-of-Province Transfer Student

If you have completed some post-secondary education at another institution, you can possibly earn transfer credits toward your program at VCC. Mature Student

You must be at least 18 years old (unless you have graduated from Secondary School) to meet the general admission requirement for VCC. In addition, specific program admission requirements must also be met.
