Application Deadline Advice

This program is an exit diploma and can be used to ladder into the Bachelor of Business Administration degree. The Associate of Commerce and Business Administration Diploma program does not accept applications. However, students can apply to the Bachelor of Business Administration and work towards earning this credential.

TRU begins accepting applications on October 1.

Applications received prior to March 1 will be guaranteed an admission decision and an earlier registration date. This program will continue to accept applications until the start of each semester.

1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic (minimum grade needed in brackets)

1. One of:

  • high school graduation or equivalent
  • mature student status (be at least 19 years old)

2.  English

One of:

  • English Studies 12 (73%)
  • English First Peoples 12 (73%)
  • Out-of-province equivalent (73%)
  • TRU's ENGL 0600 (C+)
  • TRU's ENGL 0661 (C+)
  • TRU's ESAL 0570 (C+) and 0580 (C+)
  • Acceptable assessment result (for example: Accuplacer, LPI, TRU English Placement Test, TOEFL or IELTS) 

3. Math

One of:

  • Foundations of Math 12 (C+)
  • Pre-Calculus 12 (C+)
  • MATH 0610 (C+)
  • Out-of-province equivalent (C+)

1. If you lack high school English and/ Math requirements, you have the option of taking upgrading courses at TRU to help you get started. You are encouraged to contact TRU's student recruiter to discuss about your options. 


 

2) Institution Admission Requirements

Applicants also have to satisfy TRU's institution admission requirements as listed below.

English Language Requirements

If your first language is not English and wish to enter academic programs without attending ESL courses, you must provide one of the following (minimum scores):

  • TOEFL iBT = score of 88 overall, with no section below 20
  • TOEFL paper-based = 570 overall, with a 4.5 on the TWE (Test of Written English)
  • TOEFL computer based = 230 overall, with 4.5 on Essay
  • IELTS = score of 6.5, with no bands below 6.0
  • MELAB = score of 81
  • CanTEST = score of 4.5 with no component below 4.0
  • CAEL = score of 70, with no subset below 60
  • Duolingo = score of 110 (accepted on a temporary basis, applicable to applications received before August 31, 2022)

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

TRU programs generally require BC high school graduation or equivalent. Exceptions to this requirement are shown in the program admission requirements.

You may have the equivalent of BC high school graduation if you have completed:

  • the BC Adult Graduation (Adult Dogwood) diploma, or
  • the General Education Diploma (GED)

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

You must meet the program-specific admission requirements of your intended program. To qualify for admission to the Bachelor of Business/Arts/Science degree program, you will need to have completed BC Grade 12 (or equivalent).

Out-of-Province

You must meet the program-specific admission requirements of your intended program. To qualify for admission to the Bachelor of Business/Arts/Science degree program, you will need to have completed BC Grade 12 (or equivalent).

BC Transfer Student

If you have completed some post-secondary studies at another institution, you can possibly earn transfer credits toward your program at TRU-Campus. Please refer to TRU's Transfer Credit web page. The BC Transfer Guide allows you to check on the transferability of your courses taken at another BC post-secondary institution.

Once you apply to TRU, and submit your official transcripts, you will be automatically assessed for transfer credit.

Out-of-Province Transfer Student

If you have completed some post-secondary studies at another institution, you can possibly earn transfer credits toward your program at TRU-Campus. Please refer to TRU's Transfer Credit web page. Once you apply to TRU, and submit your official transcripts, you will be automatically assessed for transfer credit.

Mature Student

For admission purpose, mature students are defined as any applicant of at least 19 years of age who has not graduated from high school. Students classified as mature may have the grade-level admission requirement waived, for example grade 11, grade 12, etc., but they are still required to meet a program’s other admission requirements and all course pre-requisites.

Other Student (including Special Consideration)

TRU may establish categories for Special Admission where it is considered that previous training and/or work experience is adequate to provide a potential for success in the program. Applicants may possibly earn academic credits for life and work experience learning through Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR). Please contact a TRU academic advisor for more details.
