Application Fee: $31.02 for application (Canadian citizens or permanent resident)) or $100 for application (international students); plus $136.74 program planning fee

1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic (minimum grade needed in brackets)

There are three categories of entry options:

Option A: First Year Entry*

1. English

One of:

  • English Studies 12 (73%)
  • English First Peoples 12 (73%)
  • Out-of-province equivalent (73%)
  • ENGL 0601 (C+)
  • Acceptable assessment result (for example: Accuplacer, LPI, TRU English Placement Test, TOEFL or IELTS) 

2. Math

One of:

  • Foundations of Math 12 (C+)
  • Pre-Calculus 12 (C+)
  • Out-of-province equivalent (C+)
  • MATH 0633
  • equivalent course

Note(*): If you do not meet the academic requirements but are a high school graduate or a mature student (at least 19 years old), you may still be conditionally admitted to the Program.

Option B: Third Year Entry

  • Completion of at least 48 credits or equivalent which meet the Lower-Level requirements of TRU's Bachelor of Computing Science

Option C: Second or Fourth Year Entry 

  • Entry from some post-secondary studies (by completing a computing science diploma or other undergraduate program), and/or work experience in the Information Technology Field based on Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition.

English Language Requirements

English proficiency equivalent to English 12 or higher is required for post-secondary level courses at TRU-Open Learning. It is students' responsibility to determine if you have English language proficiency suitable to the course or program you would like to take at TRU-Open Learning.

Register for a course

You can register for most courses without being enrolled in a program. Most courses are offered continuously, but some are paced with set start and end dates.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

Many programs have open admission, but there are exceptions. You must meet the specific admission requirements of your intended program. The program-specific admission requirements are detailed within each program profile in EducationPlannerBC's Undergraduate Program Search Database for TRU-Open Learning.

 

Out-of-Province

Many programs have open admission, but there are exceptions. You must meet the specific admission requirements of your intended program. Differential fees and services may apply to applicants who are not permanent residents of BC.

BC Transfer Student

If you have completed some post-secondary studies at another institution, you can possibly earn transfer credits toward your program at TRU-Open Learning. The BC Transfer Guide allows you to check on the transferability of your courses taken at another BC post-secondary institution. Please refer to TRU-Open Learning's Transfer Credit web page for details (including procedures for transfer credit assessment).

Out-of-Province Transfer Student

Mature Student

All individuals are eligible for general admission to TRU-OL. (Differential fees and services may apply to applicants who are not permanent residents of BC.)
