1. This 2-year diploma program (4 semesters; 76 weeks) is offered in partnership with Northern Lights College (NLC) in Dawson Creek, B.C. The first 3 semesters (55 weeks) of training take place at Okanagan College Aerospace Campus in Vernon B.C. The final semester (18 weeks) takes place at Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek. The diploma is conferred by Northern Lights College. All curriculum and entrance requirements at Okanagan College align with the AMT program at Northern Lights College. 2. This program recommends several student characteristics such as good general health, strength and stamina, ability to tolerate loud noise and comfort working at heights exceeding 6 feet. Please see OC's program website for further information.

English is the language of instruction and communication at Okanagan College. All applicants, including Canadian citizens, whose native or primary language is other than English, must demonstrate a command of English sufficient to meet the demands of classroom instruction and written assignments.

Applicants Whose First Language Is Not English
If English is not your first language, you must submit documentation of ONE OF the following when applying to a diploma, degree and certificate programs:
A score exceeding level 4 on the Okanagan College English Language Assessment (OCELA).
A minimum grade of 70% in B.C. secondary school English 12 or its equivalent for the Bachelor of Business Administration program or a minimum grade of 60% for most other programs.
If you have successfully completed a diploma or degree from an accredited institution at which English is the language of instruction, you may submit your academic transcript for review by Okanagan College. Subject to verification, this diploma or degree may be used to meet the English requirement for admission to Okanagan College.
Documentation of English language proficiency should be sent directly to intedapps@okanagan.bc.ca or ideally be submitted with the online application.

Mature students are at least 19 years of age and have been out of full-time high school for at least one year prior to starting their program at Okanagan College. Grade 12 graduation is not required (unless specified), but the applicant must satisfy all general and program-specific admission requirements.

Applicants can use the online application form to apply for admissions to Okanagan College. If an applicant is unable to submit an online application, the College will accept paper applications with the non-refundable application fee.

This program follows the Industry Training Authority (ITA) prescribed course curriculum for institutional entry to Aircraft Maintenance Technician.
Upon successful completion of the program, Transport Canada will grant graduates 18 months of experience credits toward the 48-month experience requirement for an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license (AME-M).
To progress as an apprentice, you will need to find an employer who will sponsor your apprenticeship and register with the ITA. You will then be able to complete the additional work-based (on-the-job training) training hours necessary for ITA and Transport Canada certifications.
