Application Deadline Advice

Fairleigh Dickinson University is on rolling admissions and accepts applications for admission throughout the year as space permits.

High school students who are in Grade 12 can apply for early admission in January for Fall classes start. Please include a copy of your Grade 12 interim results with your on-line application

1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic (minimum grade)

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (B-) or, English 12 First Peoples (B-)
3. Three other approved Grade 12 courses (Two should be from Group A, B)* (B-)
4. Grade 11 Required Courses: English 11, Math 11, a language 11, a science 11 and a social science 11

*Approved Grade 12 courses:

A	BC First Nations Studies 12, Calculus 12, Comparative Civilization 12, Economics 12, English Literature 12, Foundations of Math 12, French 12 or français langue seconde 12, History 12, Law 12, Philosophy 12 (must be 4 credits), Pre-Calculus 12 , Social Justice 12, Sustainable Resources 12.*Pre-Calculus or Foundation of Math will be used for admission, not both
B	Biology 12, Chemistry 12, Geography 12, Geology 12, Physics 12
C	Any Language 12 courses; First Nations Language Courses

Non-Academic

Two letters of recommendation are required

Admission Advice

1. If you are currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary school one of the letters of recommendation must be written by a teacher/instructor or counselor. If you have been out of school for several years a recommendation from an employer may be substituted. All letters of recommendation should be written on letterhead stationery and submitted to the Admissions Office either directly by your reference or in sealed envelopes.

2. If you have been enrolled in an academic program at a regional accredited college or university for at least two years on a full-time basis there is no need to submit secondary school transcripts. However, you will need to submit college or university transcripts.

English Language Requirements

An applicant whose native language is not English is required to meet the University's English Language Requirements.

For undergraduate degree programs, applicants whose first language is not English or those who have not completed two years of high school, college or university in English must meet one of the following minimum scores:

TOEFL PBT: 550 or higher
TOEFL CBT: 230 or higher
TOEFL iBT: 79
IELTS: 6.0 overall band score
SAT (Critical Reading): 420
CAE: C
FCE: B
STEP Eiken: Grade 1
MELAB: 77
CAE:L 65
CanTEST: 4.0

Exemptions

Students from Canada, Bermuda, the Bahamas, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand do not need to submit test scores.
An applicant who has previously attended a high school, college or university in Canada or the United States for more than two years and have earned passing grades in English courses may be exempt from an English proficiency exam.
