Application Deadline Advice

Applications for the 2022/23 school year will open on November 1, 2021. Admission is based upon a first qualified, first-admitted principle which is based on the date and time the applicant meets all admission requirements. Early application is therefore recommended. Verify the dates directly with College of the Rockies.

Admission Advice

1. Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel is recommended.

2. If you need help meeting admission prerequisites, academic upgrading options are available. You may start certain courses in the program while upgrading. Contact an academic advisor at the College of the Rockies for details.


 

2) Institution Admission Requirements

Applicants also have to satisfy COTR's institution admission requirements as listed below.

English Language Requirements

Demonstrate one of the following:

  • English 12 (65%) or equivalent and three years of full-time instruction in an English speaking country
  • Any English 12 course or equivalent (at the grade needed for your program) or equivalent, and four years of full-time instruction in an English speaking country
  • Four consecutive years of recognized instruction at an eligible international secondary school that uses English as the language of instruction but operates in a country where the primary language is not English (note: These four years must be immediately prior to attending the College)
  • 6 credits of first-year English course at the post-secondary level
  • If English is not your first language, direct admission is offered by one of the following (minimum score):
    • TOEFL iBT (overall score of 80, with at least 13 in Reading, 21 in Writing, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking)
    • TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition and the TOEFL ITP Plus for China (overall score of 80, with at least 13 in Reading, 21 in Writing, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking)
    • IELTS Academic (overall score of 6.0 overall, with no band below 6.0)
    • IELTS Indicator (overall score of 6.0, with no band below 6.0) (6.5 overall is required for PDDB)
    • CAEL (overall score of 60, with no sub score below 60)
    • Pearson Test of English Academic (overall score of 56)
    • Duolingo (110) (can be used for admission to Winter 2022 and Spring 2022 semesters)

Conditional admission can be offered after an English Language Assessment. The result will determine if a student has to take ESL and/or High School English or if they can directly enter the full academic program.

Each program has individual admissions requirements. To be considered for admission, you must meet or exceed the requirements for your chosen program. You must also meet the English proficiency requirement at a level suitable for your desired program. Many programs or courses at College of the Rockies require English 12 (65%) or Equivalent

If English is not your first language, or if you have received your primary education in a language other than English, you are required to provide proof of the College’s English language proficiency requirements. College of the Rockies (COTR) offers conditional and direct admission for college programs. 

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

BC Transfer Student

If you have completed post-secondary studies at another institution, you can possibly earn transfer credits toward your current program. Please refer to College of the Rockies' Transfer Credit web page. The transfer credit evaluation process involves a form, a fee, and sealed, official transcripts.

Mature Student

If you have not graduated from secondary school you may be considered for admission as a mature student as long as you are at least 19 years old on the first day of classes. You must also meet the specific course/program prerequisites for your intended program.
