Application Deadline Advice

Applications for programs that start the following Fall are accepted from mid-September to March 31.

Applications for the Winter entry should be received by October 31. Early application is recommended to ensure priority admissions processing and review.

1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic

1. One of:

  • BC high school graduation with English 12 or English First Peoples 12
  • ABE/Academic Upgrading Advanced Certificate with ENGL 050 or equivalent 
  • mature student status and completion of an English assessment (please consult a CNC academic advisor; upgrading in English may be required depending on the result of the assessment) 
Admission Advice

1. Basic computer skills are required. You will be required to use a mouse and keyboard or alternative means to interact with the operating system and software programs.

Applicants also have to satisfy CNC's institution admission requirements as listed below.

English Language Requirements

Summary

Completion of English 12 or English 12 First Peoples (or equivalent) 

If your first language is not English, one of the following is required (minimum score):                 

  • A TOEFL 80 (IBT)
  • An IELTS score of 6.0, with no band less than 5.5
  • Completion of Level 4 English for Academic Purposes at CNC

General Admission Requirements (All Students)

The following qualifications are generally accepted where Grade 12 or equivalent is listed as a requirement for admissions:

  • BC Adult Graduation Diploma
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma; or
  • Senior Alternate Education (SAE) with English 12.
Students must be 18 years of age or older.

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program (detailed in the program admission requirements section for CNC programs in Education Planner).

The following qualifications are normally accepted where Grade 12 or equivalent is needed as a requirement for admission:

  • graduation from a BC Secondary School; or
  • completion of a BC Adult Graduation Diploma; or
  • Senior Alternate Education (SAE) with English 12. Student must be 18 years of age or older.

Out-of-Province

You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program (detailed in the program admission requirements section for CNC programs in Education Planner).

The following qualifications are normally accepted where Grade 12 or equivalent is needed as a requirement for admission:

  • graduation from a BC Secondary School; or
  • completion of a BC Adult Graduation Diploma; or
  • completion of the General Education Development (GED) tests; or
  • completion of the Adult Basic Education (ABE) Advanced Certificate

BC Transfer Student

You must meet the academic requirements of your intended program (detailed in the program admission requirements section of CNC program profiles in the EducationPlannerBC Search Database).

If you have completed courses at other post-secondary institutions, you may request these credits be transferred to CNC. An official transcript from each institution at which the courses were taken must accompany your transfer credit request.

Out-of-Province Transfer Student

You must meet the academic requirements of your intended program (detailed in the program admission requirements section of CNC program profiles in the EducationPlannerBC Search Database).

If you have completed courses at other post-secondary institutions, you may request these credits be transferred to CNC. An official transcript from each institution at which the courses were taken must accompany your transfer credit request.

Mature Student

Mature students may gain special entry to the College. Details can be found on the Application Information web page.

International Student

The College of New Caledonia offers programs through three semesters in each calendar year. Intake dates are in January, May, and September.

International students are encouraged to apply at least six months before the semester you plan to attend. However, applications are accepted until the start date of each semester, provided seats are available in the program for which you apply.
