In the Applied Audio Advanced Certificate, you’ll get instruction on technologies and techniques for live audio, post-production, video game music, audio-visual storytelling, human auditory processing, mastering and immersive audio. This advanced certificate is designed for those that have a music diploma or equivalent, and it will give you direct experience with professional setups using game industry software such as Wwise and the Unreal Engine, and recording studios with consoles and monitoring systems.

1. Completion of the Music Technology Diploma program or a music-specific diploma of at least 60 undergraduate credits including:

    - MUSC 1182 or equivalent
    - MUSC 1282 or equivalent
    - MUSC 2273 or equivalent

2. High school graduation or equivalent or

    - One course short of B.C. secondary school graduation
    - 19 years old by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance
    - 17 years old on the first day of the first semester of attendance and has not been in school for at least one year
    - Completion of a certificate or equivalent from a special needs program and has been in school for 12 years, or has received an Evergreen or Leaving School Certificate

3. English 12 (C) or equivalent*

*Note: based on both the course grade and provincial literacy assessment"


1. Technology Competency: The applicant will demonstrate competency in Pro Tools
2. Listening Skills: The applicant will demonstrate compentency in frequency recognition, dynamic processing identification, and stereo field positioning

Admissions to open-enrollment programs are offered on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis. Students are encouraged to apply early.

- September intake- applications typically open in early October of the previous year until late August / early September.
- January intake- applications typically open in early February of the previous year until late December / early January.
- May intake- applications typically open in early June of the previous year until late April / early May.
