The UBCV Sciences Po Bachelor of Arts Dual Degree is a partnership between the University of British Columbia and Sciences Po (l’Institut d’études politiques de Paris) that gives you the opportunity to earn two Bachelor of Arts degrees in four years, while studying in Canada and France. As a Dual Degree student, you’ll spend the first two years of your studies at one of Sciences Po’s three regional campuses before you choose a major and complete your degree at UBCV, usually in history, sociology, political science, geography, or economics. You'll still have the option to participate in Co-op and Arts Internship programs before utilizing your international experience in a variety of careers.

The Dual Degree Program Option is open to applicants (high school graduates) satisfying the direct-entry eligibility criteria for undergraduate studies at UBCV’s Faculty of Arts, Bachelor of Arts program.

1. High school graduation or equivalent 

2. English 12 or English 11 or equivalent (70%)

3. Minimum six academic/non-academic Grade 12 courses (recommended)




Academic Admission Requirement

1. Submission of a supplemental application including:
    - Personal information
    - Written response
    - Curriculum vitae (CV)
    - Academic transcripts

2. Shortlist virtual interview (if selected) to meet both UBCV and Sciences Po representatives. You will be notified in mid-February about the status of your application. 

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. As a Dual Degree student, you’ll spend the first two years of your studies at one of Sciences Po’s three regional campuses: Menton, or Le Havre, or Reims. After completing your first two years at Sciences Po, you will begin the last two years of your undergraduate studies in July at the University of British Columbia Vancouver campus in the Faculty of Arts. The UBCV Sciences Po Dual Degree is a partnership between the UBCV and Sciences Po (l’Institut d’études politiques de Paris) that gives students the opportunity to earn two Bachelor of Arts degrees in four years, while studying in Canada and France.

2. This Dual Degree Program Option is not open to applicants transferring from another post-secondary institution or from within UBCV, including those already studying in the Faculty of Arts, or to those with a previous university degree. 

3. If you are unsuccessful in your application to the Dual Degree program, you wil be automatically considered for admission to UBCV's regular BA program. For consideration to the Sciences Po BA program (and not UBCV), please apply to Sciences Po directly. 

4. Fluency in French is not required to complete the Dual Degree, except for those students who choose to pursue Sciences Po’s Europe-Africa program. The language of instruction for all other Sciences Po programs, including Europe-Asia, Europe-North America, and Europe-Middle-East and Mediterranean, is English. Admission Advice

Applications must be submitted for most programs by January for September entry. Early application is recommended. Confirm dates with UBCV.
Exceptions of certain programs are available on UBCV Vancouver Academic Calendar 2023/24.
